Here is a house addition in Plymouth that we recently completed for a customer named Lynn just a few blocks from downtown. The house is a bungalow, and we added approximately ten feet across the entire back of the home. This allowed us to enlarge the small, galley style kitchen and her bedroom. We were also able to add a new master bathroom.
On the exterior, we built a beautiful, craftsman style covered porch, accented with Boulder Creek cultured stone. The roofing was redone using Owens Corning Duration shingles after we built new overhangs along the gables of the house. These new overhangs added unique aesthetic appeal that is similar to many of the older homes in the neighborhood.
To complete the new look of the exterior, we installed all new custom aluminum trim and vinyl soffit and vinyl siding by Mastic Siding. Lynn also wanted an updated spot in the backyard to entertain guests so, we installed a sleek looking stamped concrete patio that fit the bill perfectly.
Inside this home addition, we doubled the size of the existing kitchen, allowing us to install a new gas fireplace. We had enough stone left over from the porch to dress up the face of the fireplace, and our carpenter built a stunning custom mantel to finish off the look. For flooring, we tied into the existing hardwoods in the living room and hallway and ran them into the kitchen and master bedroom.
Lynn chose a gorgeous line of cabinetry for the kitchen by Shrock. The antique glaze on the cabinets and tall crown molding look fabulous along with the subway style tile pattern on the backsplash. The countertops are solid surface by Hi-Macs and complete the traditional look that Lynn was going for.
This traditional style was carried into the master bathroom with black and white mosaic tile on the floor and shower area along with Victorian style chrome faucets by Delta and a pedestal sink by Kohler.
